Helical Piles

Helical pile anchors provide cost-effective solutions to supporting structures over poor soil. Helical piles are ideal for projects where noise and vibrations are construction considerations, especially for sites located within densely populated areas. Helical piers are even installed in environmentally sensitive areas as they are so minimally disturbing to the immediate environment.
Common applications for helical piles include:
- Deep foundation support for new construction over poor soil. Helical piles are especially beneficial for limited access applications like elevator pits and basement level projects.
- Settling foundations sometimes can be repaired using helical piles. Soil conditions vary widely in New England and some sites are ideal for helical piles and some are not well suited.
- Tieback anchors can be used to laterally support retaining walls. Helical piles are frequently used for both new walls and the repair of failing/tilting walls.
Helical piles are greatly hampered by buried obstructions, including concrete, boulders, rubble, bricks, etc. We strongly recommend all clients perform a thorough Geotechnical Investigation prior to installing helical piles whenever possible.
