About Polymer Grouting
Expanding polymer technology provides engineers and contractors cost effective solutions for soil and concrete problems. Brought to the United States in the mid 1980’s, the technology has successfully lifted sunken highway slabs, filled void spaces underneath structures, improved soil bearing capacities and sealed concrete structures from water infiltration.
Polyurethane foam is a two component system consisting of a polyol and an isocyanate resin. EFT utilizes a variety of polyols that result in varying rates of expansion, expansion pressures and densities.
Polymer grouts are capable of achieving high strengths while very lightweight, with densities ranging from 2 pcf to 6 pcf. The material sets in under 3o minutes and can rapidly put assets back into use.
Some common uses of expanding polymer grouts include:
- Slabjacking, i.e. mudjacking, settling concrete slabs. Walkways, interior floor and industrial floor slabs can all be effectively lifted with this process.
- Void filling underneath slabs, foundations and around concrete structures.
- Compaction grouting is done to improve the structural qualities of a soil deposit.
